Your transfer case output shaft is responsible for transferring power and torque from the powertrain on your Nissan Murano to a four-wheel-drive models rear wheels. Pry open the drive shaft, and set a drip pan underneath to collect gear oil that drips out. Use a seal removal tool to remove the old Transfer Case Output Shaft Seal from the case. Removing the old seal may be difficult if the rubber has become hard. Wipe the seal housing clean and install the new Transfer Case Output Shaft Seal, then grease up the fitting around the new seal and put the transfer case back to its original position.
