Hose Top.
Flexible hose that is part of the engine cooling system.
- Important part of cooling system
- The hose coolant travels through to get between the radiator and engine
- Replace when cracked or leaking
Your INFINITI's cooling system is designed to ensure your vehicle doesn't overheat. And the cooling system depends on a quality, functioning Radiator Coolant Hose (Upper) to work properly. As the coolant in your INFINITI travels through the coolant system and radiator to you vehicle's engine, it travels through a Radiator Coolant Hose (Upper). It's important your Radiator Coolant Hose (Upper) is free from damage, leaks, cracks, or bloating that may cause further damage to your vehicle.
Over time, the rubber that makes your INFINITI's Radiator Coolant Hose (Upper) can get worn out. If this happens, the Radiator Coolant Hose (Upper) may become brittle and crack, causing coolant to leak out. If too much coolant leaks out, the engine might not receive enough coolant to keep the engine temperature under control, which could cause your INFINITI to overheat. An overheated engine could lead to repairs and damage your vehicle.
Also, the Radiator Coolant Hose (Upper) can get bloated, meaning the hose swells. An engine overheating from low coolant may cause extremely hot coolant to travel through the Radiator Coolant Hose (Upper), making the rubber in the hose bloat and swell, likely causing additional damage and cracks to your vehicle's Radiator Coolant Hose (Upper).
If you think a Radiator Coolant Hose (Upper) on your INFINITI needs to be replaced, it's good to start with a visual inspection. When checking the coolant system, always ensure the vehicle's engine and coolant system are completely cooled down, as the cooling system is under pressure, and extremely hot coolant fluid can spray if something happens to the Radiator Coolant Hose (Upper).
When looking at the Radiator Coolant Hose (Upper), look for dry-rot, cracks, swelling, or warping. Check for coolant fluid leaks underneath the vehicle, especially where your Radiator Coolant Hose (Upper) is attached to the vehicle.
In addition, look at your dashboard if you suspect a bad Radiator Coolant Hose (Upper). Check to see if the Low Coolant light is on or if the temperature gauge is displaying that your engine is running hot. Your owner's manual provides an overview of your vehicle's dashboard lights and what they mean.
