- Releases the hood latch mechanism that opens your vehicle’s hood
- Connects the hood release handle to the hood latch mechanism
- Replace if your hood release handle is stuck or is not working
Your Nissan's Hood Release Cable connects your cabin's hood release handle to the latch under the hood. When the hood release handle is engaged, it pulls the Hood Release Cable and releases the latch holding the hood in place, allowing you to open the hood.
Without a Hood Release Cable in place, you may be unable to open the hood of your vehicle since the hood release handle would have nothing connecting it to the hood latch. If your Hood Release Cable is broken, you would likely need to unlatch your hood by using methods not recommended by your Nissan manufacturer. Releasing the hood latch outside of pulling the hood release handle may leave the hood latch damaged or not functioning correctly, as well as the parts surrounding the hood latch mechanism.
Over time, the Hood Release Cable can wear out or rust, which can cause it to get stuck or even break apart during use. Your Hood Release Cable may need to be replaced if you don't feel the hood pop when you pull the hood release handle or if the release handle feels harder to pull.
If you need to replace your Hood Release Cable, order a new, genuine replacement Hood Release Cable direct from Nissan Parts. Our OEM replacement parts are custom-designed, durability-tested, and custom-fitted to match your Nissan model and year.
